But I'm old.DSP-Quattro DEMO Short Guide Release 4.0 April 2012 I can't seem to hear the difference between a 32 bit audio summing engine and a 64 bit one. Note that 64 bit memory DP8 will probably still be 32 bit audio. My only 2 pauses for moving to 64 bit DP8, are the UAD plugs, which are coming this year, and Aptrigga. For some plugs, it's the only way to use them. The Intel versions (like Studio One 2 for me) have a checkbox to open in 32 bit (memory) mode. You can Get Info on your application to see if it's Intel only or Universal. We'll have to wait and see if DP8 allows a bridge (and if it works better than Logic's). ![]() Logic 9 accomplishes this with a Bridge between the 2 worlds (32 and 64 memory), and not very well for me. I use Studio One 2 in 64 memory mode and no 32 bit memory plugins work there, only 64 bit memory plugins. Ozone processes audio internally at 64 bits, but is a 32 bit memory plugin. I don't think so.Ħ4 bit internal precision audio and 64 bit memory apps and plugins are 2 different things. ![]() Whether they're processing atĦ4-bit within a 32-bit environment, I don't know. Plug-ins will work in a 32-bit application. I'm not an expert at computer math processes, all I know is that 64-bit Also opens in older versions of BIAS Peak that are 32-bit. Izotope Ozone 5 is a 64-bit plug-in, and yet it opens and runs in DP justįine. It'll be interesting to see how 64 bit DP handles the 32 bit plugs that haven't been updated yet (if they even bother). Logic loads all the 32 bit along with the 64 bit via some kind of bridge or something. ![]() However running 32 bit plugs in a 64 bit app doesn't appear to be that big of a problem. There are other things, but the memory thing is the big advantage.Īs for the plugs, I don't know of anything that allows you to run a 64 bit plug in a 32 bit app at present, so you wouldn't be able to use the new 64 bit Waves with DSPQ. 64 bit basically just allows the app to address more memory space so you can get more going on. NazRat wrote:The audio files are all the same (16,24,32,fixed, float, etc.) regardless of 32 or 64 bit apps.
